How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
I recommend that you ask questions that are important to you by phone or email and then come in for a free initial consultation. While I’m assessing you and your circumstances to see if I can help you, it is also your opportunity to see if I’m the right fit for you as well. The best way to do this is to come in for a consultation.
What can I expect during a free consultation?
During the free initial consultation, I will ask you questions about your present circumstances, including what you came in for. I will also ask you questions about your relationships, your childhood and how you were raised, and some of your past history. If you decide that you want to begin sessions, the next step would be schedule our first appointment, and there may also be time to fill out paperwork.
How long do I go to individual therapy for, and how often?
Typically, counseling sessions are typically weekly. Research shows that by the 6th to 8th session, clients either stay in therapy or drop out. I find that clients know by the 6th session whether therapy will be of help to them or not. My recommendation is to give therapy at least 6 months. You can go longer or shorter and it depends on your issues and how much work you want to put into yourself.
What is the cost and will my insurance cover you?
Counseling sessions are $100 for individual, and $120 for couples. I accept payment at the beginning of each session. I accept cash, checks, and credit/debit cards for payment.
On request, I will provide you with a receipt that you can choose to submit to your insurance company or not. I don’t work insurance companies directly or accept direct payment from insurance companies. It is up to you to see if your insurance company will reimburse you for my services.
